From the academic, scientific and professional perspectives, the Master’s addresses current perennial aspects concerning the development of people:
- Local development and co-development in its many aspects: rural and urban, inland and coastal… Studying the different models and their peculiar characteristics (industrial districts, local production systems, and local development plans…).
- Cooperation in development and population migration, that to a large degree are caused by poverty and the low living standard in the place of origin, or by wars and social instability, which usually cause underdevelopment. Development cooperation and training of people from other places, which then promotes socio-economic development in their countries of origin; this is vital for improving the standard of living in many areas that are presently pockets of poverty and immigration.
- Sustainability, which involves development plans making rational use of resources, respecting the environment and not mortgaging the development of future generations. At the same time, being viable from the economic standpoint.
