Summary
This course presents the theory and application of various types of sensors with interfacing for embedded systems. The course includes topics in embedded system design with theory, modeling, and implementations of multiple sensors (resistive, capacitive, inductive, magnetic, piezoelectric, optical, and ADAS) and interfacings (mechanical, electrical, and digital).
Description
Component integration, design considerations, and interfacing are studied through examples selected from applications of machine tools, mechatronics, robotics, aerospace systems, and ground vehicles.
Short description about your research/teaching profile: Moein Mehrtash received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in dynamics and control in 2003 and 2007, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in mechatronics from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 2013. In 2014, he joined McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, as an Assistant Professor. His current research interests include control system design, haptic teleoperation, and magnetic drive technology. Dr. Mehrtash has been committed to pursuing a career that will focus on excellence in teaching, innovation in practices and curriculum, pedagogical research, and mentorship. He is currently teaching seven courses (five undergraduate and three graduate-level) at McMaster university with topics such as electronic control systems, sensors and actuators, vehicle dynamics, fluid mechanics, etc.
