Important:
The Inter-University Master's in Historical Analysis of the Present coordinated by the University of Huelva, aims to train researchers, especially in the areas of Modern and Contemporary History, thus completing the professional training of graduates who trained at our universities to increase their chances of success in securing work in non-university and university teaching in Spain, Latin America and Europe.
However, it should be noted that, because of its structure and contents, this Master‘s also offers a very complete preparation for journalists, political scientists, sociologists, cultural managers, analysts, and librarians and archivists, among others, expanding their capabilities and competencies to improve their employability.
Its aim is to provide an innovative programme, both in terms of its contents and approach, as well as its distance-learning format–, which is an investment in the future and a tool to counteract the problems that international mobility often poses to Humanities students.
Suggested profile for newly enrolled students
The Master's in Historical Analysis of the Present is especially suitable for students with a Bachelor's Degree in History, Philosophy and Letters (the History specialisation), Geography and History (the History specialisation) or any other equivalent official qualification from other countries.
However, it is also aimed at Graduates in other Humanities and Social Sciences degrees who are interested in Contemporary History knowledge, research methods and techniques: for example, political sciences, journalism and communication, sociology, economics, or philosophy. It would even fit training profiles in disciplines linked to geography, art history, philologies, tourism, fine arts, education, pedagogy, archivists and librarians, museology, social work and education, psychology, or the environment. And, obviously, professionals with experience in the field of education, the media, information, or public administration related to social and political analysis or current issues.
Accordingly, the Master's is especially aimed at people with an intellectual interest in the social, political, economic and ideological processes typical of the contemporary world, concerned with understanding the immediate past and the analytical and critical interpretation of the present, as well as those committed to the processes of social integration, respect for multiculturalism, environmental sustainability and the defence of human rights.
The Master’s programme looks for students who wish to obtain specialized knowledge regarding the History of the Contemporary World, which allows them a critical standpoint, in a framework of personal ideological freedom, facing the main facts of our environment, free from adulterated or biased perspectives. They must be students who are also concerned not only with the acquisition of academic content, but also with the generation of new knowledge through research. A knowledge of languages and basic computer skills are recommended along with having a critical sense, initiative, creativity, relational competencies and social and environmental commitment.
