Important:
The Mediterranean is a sea of millennial societies that have seen all kinds of ships sail, have taken advantage of its resources, have turned it into a means of communication, a battlefield, a witness of great discoveries and advances, but also of power struggles and social struggles, and sometimes in the element of union and others of separation between Europe and Africa. A sea whose societies have been the object of study and admiration by researchers from inside and outside the country, is also a historical and social space as familiar to its people as the land that sustains them.
The aim of the Master’s is to provide an integral vision in the Braudélian style of all the historical periods studied, from the first societies that occupied the Mediterranean environment to the present day.
The fundamental objective of this proposal is to analyse the different facets of the process that forms European culture and the role that the various Mediterranean cultures have played in it. The Master's trains students to know and master data, procedures and techniques requiring critical, reflective and interpretative analysis of the different realities affecting the Mediterranean world.
Suggested profile for newly enrolled students
The applicant's profile will preferably be that of a student with the basic scientific grounding necessary to understand, interpret, analyse and explain the knowledge involved in their field of study. Furthermore, the applicant should have acquired, at least in a basic way, a series of transversal competencies that contribute to the following capacities: synthesis, problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, self-criticism and skill upgrading.
From an academic standpoint, the appropriate applicant profile will be that of a student with training within the Arts and Humanities knowledge branch. Thus, this degree is directed preferably to Graduates of History, Humanities, Journalism, Audiovisual Communication or Political Science, who wish to specialize in applying their knowledge and skills to the understanding, evaluating and monitoring of the historical processes that condition Global Change.
