Structure of the Degree

The proposed Master's Degree is organised in 2 semesters, each of which has 30 ECTS credits, with two pathways or specialisations, in sexology to assume the Sexologist’s competencies, with specific training in the Education and Sexual Advice pathway. And in the Sexological Clinical Training and Individual and Couple Treatment pathway, as well as in research. The contents are presented in modules and subjects.

The Master's comprises 5 modules that will be taught during an academic year, 60 ECTS credits. This will not prevent students from extending freely their enrolment to a second year to obtain the double specialisation.

The two master's specialisations are determined in 24 ECTS, defined as follows:

A) Sexual Education and Advice Specialisation (24 ECTS)

- Research Advances in Specialized Sexual Education (6 ECTS).

- Sexological advice/consulting (6 ECTS).

- And 12 ECTS among:

  • Study Design and Statistics applied to Sexological Science.
  • Qualitative Methodology in Sexological Research.
  • Quantitative Methodology in Sexological Research.
  • Group Dynamics in Sexology.
  • Femininity, Masculinity, and Sexual and Gender-based Violence.
  • Practicum I: Education and Sexual Advice.

B) Sexological Clinical Training and Individual and Couple Treatment Specialisation (24 ECTS)

- Research Advances in Sexological Clinical Training (6 ECTS).

- Research Advances in the Treatment of Individual and Partner Sexual Problems (6 ECTS).

- And 12 ECTS among:

  • Study Design and Statistics applied to Sexological Science.
  • Qualitative Methodology in Sexological Research.
  • Quantitative Methodology in Sexological Research.
  • Practicum II: Clinical Cases.
  • Care and Complementary Techniques System.
  • Ethical and Legal Sexology. Family and Sexuality.

In the event of not completing the subjects of the proposed pathways, they would obtain the official University Master's in Sexological Sciences, without specialisation or mention.

These pathways are divided in accordance with their contents in the following modules:

  • MODULE 1: SCIENTIFIC BASIS OF HUMAN SEXUALITY.
    (21 ECTS credits required)
  • MODULE 2: RESEARCH APPLIED TO SEXOLOGY.
    (12 ECTS credits: 3 compulsory and 9 elective)
  • MODULE 3: EDUCATION AND SEXUAL ADVICE.
    (21 elective ECTS credits)
  • MODULE 4: SEXOLOGICAL CLINICAL TRAINING AND INDIVIDUAL AND COUPLE TREAMENT
    (24 elective ECTS credits)
  • MODULE 5: RESEARCH WORK OR MASTER’S THESIS.
    (12 ECTS credits)

The Master’s Thesis will have only a researched-orientation in sexology.
