UAL International Cooperation Plan

The International Cooperation Plan of the University of Almeria (abbreviated as PPCI in Spanish) aims, among other things, to promote, align and guide UAL's international cooperation policies and to promote values and attitudes linked to cooperation, solidarity and social justice within the university community. To this end, a series of programmes are implemented that are financed with UAL's own funds.

Programme I. Call for Cooperation Projects

This programme is aimed at providing financial aid for two types of actions:

CATEGORY 1
Projects in the field of international cooperation carried out by members of the university community in developing countries, and in collaboration with other cooperation agents.

CATEGORY 2
Outreach and awareness-raising activities at the campus, which will enhance international cooperation and UAL's commitment to the SDGs of Agenda 2030.

Call for applications opens annually in February-March.

Programme II. Grants for refugee and asylum seeker students

Aware of  the current situation of refugees and asylum seekers coming from conflict areas, the University of Almería annyually calls for the following grants:

- Grants for refugee or asylum seeker students to carry out undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies at UAL, covering tuition fees and living costs.

- Grants for refugee and asylum seeker students covering tuition fees for attending Spanish language classes at UAL's Centro de Lenguas, enabling them to integrate in our country and the campus.

Call for applications opens annually in May-June.

Programme III. Training and Mobility Grants

The following training and mobility grants are promoted through the UAL Plan:

- Grants for carrying out Master studies at UAL. This programme aimes at promoting postgraduate training with Latin American universities. It is sponsored by UAL in collaboration with the Ibero-American Graduate Association (AUIP).  Grants cover up for a maximum of 10 grants of 5,000 Eur each, comprising tuition fees and living expenses. Call for applications opens annually in March-April. Also, through our partnership with AUIP, mobility grants are offered for postgraduates.

- Grants for carrying out Doctoral studies at UAL. This programme aimes at promoting PhD studies among teachers from Latin American universities associated with the Carolina Foundation. 2 grants are offered comprising tuition fees and the amount of 400 Eur per month for living expenses, over a maximum of 27 months spanning a 4-year period. Call for applications opens anually in March-April. Besides, grants are offered for the Master's in Solar Energy, and the Master's in Migration, Mediation and Vulnerable Groups.

- Grants from La Rábida Group of Ibero-American Universities. This programme co-finances the various grants officially published by La Rábida Group, including doctoral mobilities, expenses related to doctoral theses, summer courses, etc. for UAL members only. Call for applications opens annually in June-July.

PROGRAMME V. INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERING

This programme aims to promote international volunteering among UAL students, through their participation in international cooperation and humanitarian aid projects. International volunteering experiences are an excellent means of awareness-raising about the challenges of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Contact with other cultures and realities also provides students with a unique opportunity for personal development and the acquisition of solidarity values.

Financial support may cover up to Eur 2,000 per activity, including travel, accommodation and living expenses, as well as visa and health insurance.
