Structure of the Degree

The Master's in Business Management and Economics by the University of Almeria has a total of 60 ECTS credits, distributed academically in a year, with 2 semesters, which comprise all the theoretical and practical training that the student must acquire.

The curriculum is set up around an elective structure in which students must compulsorily take the Master’s Thesis (9 ECTS credits), and optionally choose the remaining subjects until completing the 60 ECTS credits. The total offer of Master's credits is 126 ECTS credits.

Students may obtain a master's degree with or without a specialisation. The three specialisations provided for in this curriculum are the following:

  • Specialisation in Management and Executive Development.
  • Specialisation in General Management.
  • Specialisation in Research.

The requirements for giving an specialisation to a master's degree are as follows:

Specialisation in Management and Executive Development: This specialisation is designed for those students who require competencies related to the management of any type of organisation, especially small and medium-sized organisations.

The elective subjects comprised in this specialisation are:

  • Management Skills, 6.
  • Business Economics, 6.
  • Economy, 6.
  • Strategy, 6.
  • Marketing, 6.
  • Corporate Finance, 6.
  • Accounting, 6

Total: 42

Specialisation in General Management: This specialisation trains for the performance of general management or senior management positions in the company, whose decisions have to be supported by solid knowledge based on available evidence and research in each related field.

The elective subjects comprised in this specialisation are:

  • Management Skills, 6.
  • Economic Environment, 6.
  • Strategic Management, 6.
  • Marketing Management, 6.
  • Management Finance, 6.
  • Management Accounting, 6.
  • Internationalisation of Business, 6.

Research Specialisation: It is aimed at students interested in research in the field of economics and business management, and includes subjects of the previous specialisation, together with others related to research methodology, theories and data analysis.

The elective subjects comprised in this specialisation are:

  • Economic Environment, 6.
  • Strategic Management, 6.
  • Marketing Management, 6.
  • Management Finance, 6.
  • Management Accounting, 6.
  • Research Methodology and Theories, 9.
  • Data Analysis, 9

Total: 48

Therefore, each student must enrol in the compulsory subject 'Master’s Thesis' (9 ECTS), and a set of elective subjects until completing a total of 60 ECTS. Once these credits have been completed, they will obtain the 'Master's in Business Management and Economics by the University of Almeria', and may (optionally) achieve an specialisation if they have completed the elective credits corresponding to such specialisation.
